We’ll I spent the weekend looking at the Canon website and lusting in general. I’m still trying to figure out the decision between 50D and 5DMKII. Since I’m not in the market for an immediate purchase I’m not concerned about the shortage of MKIIs. This weekend I mostly lusted after some L glass. I know that I need to invest in some decent glass, and why not go with L?!?! I’m lusting over the 35 and 50mm primes. I’ll probably get the 35mm prime first. It’ll be a fun christmas present for myself… in you know, not December.

Been working on the inertial processing software lately. Finally got the package to store the Kalman Filter state vectors. Having a spot of difficulty getting it to load the state vectors though. That too shall pass! I am getting really excited by the potential for what this means to the package. I will keep updating about the progress.
On an unrelated note I am contemplating a photo project for this year. Project365 failed last year because it took too much time to keep up with since work was crazy. This year I am going to take on a photo a week project. I think each month will have a unique theme. January’s theme will be Suburban Decay. It should be interesting.

lightroom update

So, a new update of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom went live today. I am currently downloading it, and should get it installed shortly. Maybe it will solve some of the problems with the editing brush. Can’t hurt it. I will be trying it out while I finish up the Peru photos so that I can get those online. In the mean time, here, have another photo!

We got two missions in today after getting a late start due to inclement weather between Renton and Bremerton. The system seems to have worked just fine. I’ve still got data to process to verify that. However, I got over 100 pictures snapped today! We had an overfly of the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and got to see some aircraft carriers and a few nuclear subs! We weren’t supposed to take any pictures there. However, I got some decent shots of some other parts of the missions today. A few are below!

So, I was at the airport on Friday and some how managed to miss a huge-ass mountain! On Saturday I got this shot in of Mt. Rainer before it got shrouded in clouds.

First Seattle Picture

I’ve attached my first picture from the Seattle trip. It’s the tail off of a brand new Bell 210 helicopter at the Renton airport. There are only, and will only ever be, 4 Bell 210s in the world and I got to see one! It’s a gorgeous bird. This particular one is going to be delivered to the forestry service for fighting fires in south-central California. It was apparently 3 years late coming from the Bell plant. Without further delay here is the picture!

New Lens and Pictures

I finally broke down and got a new telephoto zoom lens for the digital SLR. It is the Canon 75-300mm USM 1:4-5.6. So, with the Digital Rebel that I’ve got I’m actually looking at equivalent focal lengths of 120-480mm. So far I am quite impressed. The focusing time is amazing, definitely improved over the base model 75-300mm lens.

I’ve uploaded a couple of photos to the gallery taken with the lens. One is of a spider in Memorial Park and the other is The Leela Dog.
